Scholarship Opportunities

I hope you are enjoying your break so far. I wanted to share a few scholarship opportunities with you:

“Top Ten List” $1,000 Scholarship (Five winners @ $1,000 each)

· Open to all U.S. students 13 years of age or older

· Respond (in 250 words or less): Crate a “top ten list” of the top ten reasons you should get this scholarship

· Deadline to apply on-line: December 31, 2010 Apply at: http://www.scholarshipexperts.com/apply.htx

Campus Discovery $5,000 “Value of College” Scholarship

· Open to U.S. citizens or legal residents

· Be enrolled at (or recently graduated from) any 2 or 4 year college in the U.S.

· Complete survey, then respond in 200 words or less: “What have you gotten out of your college experience and why has it been valuable to attend?”

· Deadline to apply on-line: January 31, 2011

U.S. Bank’s Internet Scholarship Program ? will award forty $1,000 scholarships through a random drawing process. Undergraduate students attending an eligible four-year college or university participating in the U.S. Bank No Fee Education Loan Program are eligible to apply (Wells College is listed). Applications will be accepted through March 2011.

Air & Waste Management Association (AWMA) is accepting applications for scholarship grants of up to $1,000. Eligibility criteria includes:

· High school graduates entering college or current college students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate level programs

· Applicants must be enrolled in a degree track related to the environment

· Applicants do not have to be AWMA members or a relative of a member

· Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) for the Fall 2011 semester

· Applicants must be residents of or going to college in the Central New York region

Applications must be postmarked or received via email no later than January 21, 2011. Application information is available in the Financial Aid Office or at their website: http://www.awma.org/awards/scholarship_programs/index.html

The Wells College Department of Athletics has announced the creation of the Sports Information and Event Management Internships available to all Wells College Students for the Spring 2011 semester. The internship is designed to give students, interested in collegiate athletics, an experience that will build a foundation for a career in athletic management, marketing, public relations, sports information, and event management.

This is a three credit hour internship that will begin in the first of week of February. Application materials are due by Monday, January 4, 2011.

The Dining Hall will maintain regular meal times during finals week.

Regular hours are as follows:

Breakfast?Monday thru Friday 7:00 am to 9:00 am

Continental Breakfast?Monday thru Friday 9:00am to 11:30 am

Lunch?Monday thru Friday 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Light Lunch?Monday thru Friday 1:00pm to 5:30 pm, Saturday and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00

Dinner?Monday thru Friday 5:30pm to 7:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 5:00pm to 6:30pm

Brunch?Saturday and Sunday 10:30 am to 1:00 pm

The last meal of the semester will be Brunch on Friday, December 17 from 10 a.m. ? 11:30 a.m.

Both the Express Café and the Backstage Grille will close at 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 16th and reopen at on January 30th.

Swim Test Sign-ups

11-12; 1-2pm

Friday, December 10th, 2010


Part 1 – swim 100 yards (4 lengths) continuously with any stroke except the “doggie paddle”.

Part 2 – Jump in (feet first) 12 ft of water. Tread water for 1 minute.
