School for Field Studies presentation

Environmental Field Studies Abroad

School for Field Studies (SFS) creates transformative study abroad experiences through field-based learning and research. Their educational programs explore the human and ecological dimensions of the complex environmental problems faced by local partners, contributing to sustainable solutions in the places where we live and work. SFS representative Nicole Anderson will be available in the Dining Hall at lunchtime and then giving a presentation at 12:40 in Stratton 102

Celtic Music Concert

Next up in Student Activities Spring Break Hangover line up is a fun Celtic concert! Come by the Dining Hall between 11:45 and 1pm to see Mark Rust perform a Celtic Music Concert! Traditional Celtic music will be played and you may even get a dance lesson or two!

Village of Aurora Election Day

Just a reminder that if you are registered to vote here in Aurora – it is election day! Cast your vote at the Village Firehouse noon – 9pm.

Celebrate Wells Wednesday with our 3rd Spring Break Hangover event: the Sign Shop! You can make your very own street sign at this event! Stop by the Express Café between 5 and 8pm!

Henry Wesselwoman Exhibition Opening

On Wednesday, March 19, 6-8 pm, all are invited to join us at the String Room Gallery to celebrate the opening of the exhibition "Henry Wesselwoman," by LA-based artists Alli Miller + Trey Burns. The exhibition is comprised of photography and installation, and engages with the history of the "New Topographics" photographic genre (one which has specific local ties to Rochester and the George Eastman House). Senior Artist Talks

On Thursday, March 20 at 6:00pm our Senior Visual Arts Majors will present artist talks about their ongoing thesis work. Julia LaCourse, Ashlyn Loomis, Rachel Munford, & Ica Stolt will discuss the development of their ideas and give a glimpse of the artwork that will comprise their Senior Thesis Exhibition this May. Audience members may also visit the Seniors’ studios to see the works-in-progress, and are encouraged to come early to enjoy some light refreshments. Bruce Bennett Poetry Reading

In June, Professor Bruce Bennett will be retiring after forty one years at Wells. This farewell Poetry Reading will be to celebrate his years at Wells and the students he has been privileged to teach. In honor of the occasion, FootHills Publishing has brought out a new chapbook of Professor Bennett’s poems, SWIMMING IN A WATERING CAN. Michael Czarnecki, the founder and editor of FootHills, will be present. Copies of many of Professor Bennett’s books and chapbooks will be available at the reading. Refreshments will be served. This event will begin at 7pm in the AER.

Movie Poster Show

Have you always wanted to be featured on your favorite movie poster? Here’s your chance! Come to the Sommer Center between 3 & 7pm to enjoy the fourth event of Student Activities Spring Break Hangover week!

Leadership Info Session

Have an interest in applying to be a peer leader or an orientation leader? Be sure to attend this info session to find out all of the details on the application procedure! The session will begin at 6:30pm in Stratton 209.

Student Library Prize

Attention All Wells Seniors: Student Library Prize

Do you have an eclectic collection of books? Have you acquired an impressive number of books in your major area? You should consider submitting your personal library for the annual Student Library Prize!

1st and 2nd prizes are awarded annually to those competing seniors judged to have the most tasteful and interesting personal libraries.

More detailed information is available upon request at the Main Desk of Long Library. Contest runs March 3 through April 4, 2014!

Scholarship Opportunities:

Summary:

1. Participate in one of the following Safe Driver Programs listed on the page or email for approval of other qualifying safe driver programs (email: scholarship).

2. Create a form of social awareness that inspires other students to focus on safe driving. This can be a video, artwork, essay or anything that would engage other students to focus on safe driving.

3. Once you are completed with steps 1 and 2, please proceed to filling out the application in our contact form at the bottom of the scholarship page.

4. Submit a link to your video, artwork, essay or creative element of your choice in the final step of the application form.
